In many areas of Japan, there are small, box-shaped structures staffed by uniformed personnel. These are typically no more than a single room in size and operate 24/7. They are not police stations in the traditional sense, but they are affiliated with the national police force. They often serve as the first point of contact for citizens who need directions, want to report minor incidents, or require assistance with routine issues. Staff inside may patrol the surrounding neighbourhood on foot or by bicycle.
These are called as "Kobans". A Koban is where people come to avail a certain public service X and to reunite with their belongings / friends and family.
Kobans in Japan are usually considered the most efficient across the world due to their diligence, honesty and system of workflow.
Kobans are present in Metro Stations as well, in Tokyo, mainly in the Toei Underground Subway Stations, the Yamanote Lines and all of the JR Lines.
What service X do the Kobans provide?
