Question of the Day #13

  The 25th Parallel is a USA based lifestyle magazine.

Its popularity in Florida Keys grew significantly due to more people being educated about a certain myth X and hence the name was a tribute to the scientists and explores who disproved X, atleast according to some sources.

If the same funda were to be put for Bangalore, it would be called the 12th Parallel or if rounded off (12.9629) the 13th Parallel.

Which then "around the world" famous myth X was disproved and what is the funda behind 25th Parallel, a tribute to the imaginary (namesake of magazines) "around the world"?
