Quizzical #2

Hurry Up Tomorrow, also an album by this artist X, was a 2025 movie directed by Trey Edward Shults.

Plagued by insomnia, a musician gets pulled into a nightmarish odyssey with a stranger who begins to unravel the very core of his existence.

Music superstar X warms up and performs at a headlining concert. Afterwards, he parties and does drugs with his manager, Lee. Despite encouragement from Lee, X suffers from a lack of desire to perform due to growing depression following a recent break-up. Meanwhile, somewhere in Los Angeles, Anima, a fan of X's music, sets a house on fire before driving to X's next concert, avoiding messages from her mother.

Before the concert, X is diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia and considers cancelling, but is convinced to perform by Lee. Before embarking onstage, X leaves a foul-mouthed voicemail to his ex-girlfriend, blaming her for his depression. Anima sneaks into the concert, where X loses his voice and abruptly walks offstage. Anima then sneaks backstage and meets X. Intrigued, waves away security and spends the night with Anima in Pacific Park and later, at a hotel. Anima breaks down after X plays a portion of, "Hurry Up Tomorrow", relating to its themes of loneliness and abandonment.

The following day, as X readies to return to his tour, he overhears Anima and her mother arguing on the phone about the arson. Anima aggressively prevents X from leaving, asking him to emotionally open up to her, but he dismisses her. Angered, Anima knocks him unconscious by hitting him with a champagne bottle. X then has a vivid nightmare of walking alone from the hotel room onto the streets, with his childhood self staring back at him.

X refuses to discuss the songs with her. Lee arrives to find X, having tracked his phone to the hotel. Anima opens the door and tries to get him to leave, pulling out a knife when he refuses. After a violent struggle, Anima fatally stabs Lee in the neck. Anima then douses X with gasoline, threatening to burn him if he doesn't emotionally open up to her. X finally speaks to Anima, pacifying her by singing “Hurry Up Tomorrow". She then releases him from the bed and sets the room on fire as she leaves.

Abel exits the hotel room, which leads him directly backstage before a concert. He stares at himself in front of a mirror, visibly shaken by the events.

Not at all a true story but inspired by true events of X's friend, who is X and which depressing song from "Hurry Up Tomorrow" does he play, not in the movie, but according to the fanbase, he should have played?
