Question of the Day

The word X originated in the late eighteenth century, though its exact origin is debated.

One popular story claims that a Dublin theatre manager, Richard Daly, invented it around 1791 by writing the term on walls as part of a bet to create a new word within twenty-four hours.

Others suggest this arises from Latin for "who are you?", some say this comes from it's parent word in-X-itive, and others suggest this was a 1780s slang for a hoax or a peculiar person.

Today, it is one of the most recognised words around the world, with its main usage being in pedagogy and entertainment.

Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have also been closely associated with this word X.
