In "A twisted cue" by Rohit Handa follows the story of an Anglo-Indian Commanding Officer of an elite Guards battalion who is on holiday in Kasauli, a cantonment town in the Shimla Hills, on the eve of international hostilities.
Anyways, in this book, the lead character Mulkally tries to trace the origin of an alchohol brand, which is rather humorous.
The lead tries to explain to his friend how X came from the corrupted translation to English and then Hindi (respectively of the two parts) of the word Calcutta through repeated, corrupted pronounciations.
Obviously, this is not the origin of the actual alchoholic drink X.
Which drink, which is a brand of blended Scotch whisky produced by the Indian beverage company United Spirits Limited, a subsidiary of Diageo, and rose to fame due to its "savour the pause" campaign featuring Emilia Clarke, the lead actress in terminator?
