Question of the Week #2

The practise of saying X for a short brief came when screenwriters of Hollywood used to brief their directors on the X. It later evolved into a form of lobbying in the X hence earning the name.

The timeframe of a general X ride, 45-60 seconds, was usually all it took these screenwriters to lobby the directors to hire them hence delivering a powerful, impactful message.

General Catalyst, a venture capitalist company based out of America, literalised this word so that people could actually deliver Xs, but be much more comfortable with the chairs.

X?

Question of the Day #8

The Royal Mail Steamer X was launched on this day, 1911, in Belfast, Ireland.

The name X was immortalised by James Cameroon and Leonardo DiCaprio in 1997 with their super hit movie featuring Kate Winslet and Billy Zane.

X was often considered synonymous to invincible due to its immense size and wonderful architecture. However, Rehorek had different plans. This "thing" that defeated the invincible X was photographer's namesake, Rehorek.

Rehorek collided with X to cause a huge tragedy, maybe one of the biggest to date. Some call "it" Rehorek, while the others call it the Jakobshaven due south of Greenland,  and "it" died in 1913, most possibly due to the impact from the collision with X.

X? Who/What is Rehorek / Jakobshaven?

This phrase has been used in several movies as a voice-over phrase to add dramatics to the opening scenes and to portray that time flies.

Question of the Day #7

An X is a person is an official appointed by a government or other institution to investigate complaints from the public and to try to resolve disputes or grievances. They are essentially a representative of the people, acting as an independent body to ensure fairness and accountability.

X is a quasi-judicial, independent administrative authority empowered to investigate allegations of maladministration, abuse of discretion, or procedural irregularity by public bodies. Under U.S. administrative law, X operates pursuant to enabling statutes (e.g., Inspector General Act or state-specific legislation) and derives investigatory authority including subpoena power, access to documents, and compelled testimony, subject to due process constraints. The process is initiated by a petition or complaint, subject to admissibility criteria such as jurisdiction, standing, and exhaustion of administrative remedies. X conducts fact-finding through interviews, document review, and site inspections, issuing findings of fact and recommendations. However, X lacks binding enforcement authority and cannot impose sanctions or overturn decisions—its powers are persuasive, not adjudicatory. Under international administrative law principles , X operates similarly, emphasising legality, proportionality, and procedural fairness. Limitations include absence of appellate jurisdiction, judicial review immunity, and exclusion from matters involving national security, judicial conduct, or private legal disputes.

Michael E. Horowitz was a very influential X and is hence presently heading the Inspector General's Office of the United States.

The etymology of X, some believe, comes from the Swedish word for a legal solicitor or representative, this being the only other word borrowed from the language save the Scandinavian Lingonberry.

The starting part of X could be confused for a Hindu spiritual phrase but in Swedish it per se, means if. Compounded together with the remnant predicate part of the word, it could be mistaken for an English word itself due to its common ending.

X?

OnlyUS #1

A very popular meme goes on the internet where a reporter keeps reiterating the same question, each time louder, but Trump never hears it. Finally, JD Vance tells Trump what the reporter is trying to ask and Trump replies, "Well, What If? What if a bomb drops on our heads right now?"

The reporter hilariously replies "WELL MAYBE YOU'D HEAR IT!"

Obviously the clips were heavily edited, but they gained the due views from social media.

But the question the reporter was trying to ask was a serious question which is in the news for a long period of time now, whose existence Trump has unfortunately been rejecting.

It deals with the accountability of another nation that the USA is presently negotiating with and its integrity, especially considering its recent aerial attacks of its claimed regions.

MakeEntertainmentGreatAgain (MEGA) Quiz #1

This is a 2006 Comedy/Drama film directed by David Frankel.

It boasts of a stacked cast, filled with starring names like Anne Hathaway and Stanley Tucci.

The name, however, is what got a lot of attention. The funny part was, that company X, a brand "featured" in the name of the film, did not have to give copyright features to the film as they were using it as a fictional element, plus, trademark infringement was out of the question for company X for the film actually increased the number of X buyers, despite its unreasonable price.

Brands like X are economically termed as "Veblen Goods", where, by defying general laws of economics, the demand rises as the price rises, as the target audience is just a specific group of elite members of society.

Veblen Goods are also known to possess immeasurably high brand values, so it was really shocking to the community when X did not file for trademark infringement (or at least tried to file or criticise)

In the movie, a popular lore goes that Anne Hathaway indeed went from a size 6 to a size 4 just for the movie so that she could fit in to the plot's requirements.

Which movie? Which S.p.A from Italy is X?

Quizzical The Music Quiz #1

The video shows this certain "ThalaivARR" playing music from thin air.

ThalaivARR is using a certain technology from a company that "integrates electronics" called Curie, named after Marie Curie, to do this.

Curie is a tiny, low-power hardware product designed for wearable devices and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. It features a Quark SE SoC, a 6-axis motion sensor, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and pattern matching capabilities. It's designed for "always-on" applications like fitness tracking, social notifications, and health and wellness devices.

As mentioned, it uses a technology called IoT to play musical instruments without touching them. Simple wrist movements can be coded in as piano notes or violin strings and hence, by just having a small, minute, wearable gadget, you could play music.

ThalaivARR played overused song X with Curie in the company headquarters of the "organisation that made Curie" in Las Vegas. This overused song X is most commonly played in National Day Celebrations,  Independence Day Parades, Republic Day Fests etc.,

ThalaivARR has also performed overused song X and other "Thalaiva" movie songs in the Nobel Peace Prize Fests as well.

Question of the Day #6

X was once attacked by bunnies!

Once, when X and his fellow comrades had arranged for a rabbit hunt in 1807, X was overconfident and hence did not carry a gun to the hunt (sources say). But when X saw the rabbits being released from their cages, he was startled and the rabbits attacked and launched an onslaught on X.

A more detailed retelling from some sources goes :

The story goes that X's chief of staff,  Louis-Alexandre Berthier, arranged for the hunt, bringing in over 3,000 rabbits from local farmers. When the rabbits were released, they mistook and his men for their keepers and charged at them, believing it was feeding time. The rabbits gnawed on the men's clothing, boots, and even entered X's carriage

A few days ago on Art Net, X's life's famous retellings called A Trove of a 100 X Treasures hit the auction block and is officially available and open for bids from interested buyers. The book has special casings and coverings with original pages from X's diaries and is written in an extremely light hearted yet accurate fashion.

It is also known commonly that in the countries X ruled, like ______ and _____, naming a pig X or naming a rabbit X is a fineable and punishable offence and draws societal criticism.

Rome has openly admitted that this tradition has provided around € 2 million on annual basis, especially for NGO Non-Profit Charity, a Catholic Church Caritas, which makes soups and breads for the underprivileged in the Vatican and Rome because of this.

The tourists find it a lucky charm to perform this tradition. A famous saying goes, "A trip to Rome isn't complete without ________ _ ____ ___ ___ _____"

To protect the "sanctity" of this tradition, Rome openly imposed fines and declared this an action of adulterating this sacred spot by committing. People say "I survived an year just by the _____ _____" etc.,

The place where this tradition happens is a main structure with an amphitheatric seating around it to observe the structure's marvellous carvings. It can be reached by Taking Line A (Red Line) to Barberini, a five minute walk from there. Switchovers from Termini are extremely painful to reach here (trust). The Gelato shops like Venchi's or Romeo's Gelato are truly amazing.

Put Funda as to why Rome banned it.

This concept X is a widely known and accepted concept across cultures, histories and mythologies.

In Hindu Mythology, people often relate X with figures like the revered Regal "Guru" of the Princes of Kuru, Kripacharya, king of the bears, Jambavan, the literal "brainchild" of Lord Brahma, Narada the heavenly poet and musician and sometimes even Kakabhushandi, the revered sage who took the form of a crow to recite the story of Rama to the king of birds, Garuda.

In Greek mythology, the term X is associated with people who are "deified" or given the status of god due to their good deeds like Hercules, after a process called apotheosis, or people like Tithonus, who was given X but was old and cripple and Endymion, the shepherd who was loved by the moon goddess hence granted X so that he could maintain his beauty.

Aeneas, the Trojan hero who defended the city against the Greeks was also "deified" in Roman Mythology and attained X status.

Executive Order #13765 was published on the 24th of January of year 20LM. (2000 + LM, where L and M are distinct natural numbers)

The Executive order was designed to weaken regulations and procedures associated with enforcement of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Meme Mania #1

The recent meme (image follows) has taken the internet by storm. Following a certain tragic event of the 22nd of April, when the victim country expressed its "revenge" for this event, this meme was posted.

The meme came due to the fact that the country orchestrating the attacks faces water shortage and depends on a channel from the victim country for water.

As revenge, the victim country blocked off, temporarily, a treaty arranged and negotiated by the World Bank, and was signed in a major city of the attacking country in 1960.

X has a habit of saying Y usually on events like a crash, unstable internet connection, lots of old browser cache and cookies taking up space, or when there is a lack of memory on the device.

X keeps reiterating to its friends and customers by asking them to double check if their data connection, hotspot, or internet connection is stable, or delete the user's cache, close other tabs or applications that are unwanted at the present moment, restarting the device or by updating the server.

X probably started saying Y due to the inspiration from the usage of Y especially in the 1520s, where this was used to exclaim to one's friend about a "sharp, quick movement" or sometimes a bite. Later, Y evolved into a way to express surprise, or misfortune and any unexpected outcomes.

The usage graph chart shows that when X started saying Y to denote misfortune, the entire world followed the trend.

Small talk in Bangalore. Hint : If you haven't heard of either Cool Joint, Upahara Darshini, Voot, Wondendaff etc., then you ain't a true Bangalorean and hence this question ain't for you.

X Y and Z Y were two highly grossing Kannada "Grandmother TV Serials" which began in 2012, with X Y being a prequel to Z Y.

These are often termed as "serials" considering the colloquial pronunciation instead of a normal TV Show. The reason for it being called a "serial" also (informally) depends on the "poshness" (alleged) of the certain show. If it is a "foreign show", colloquially it would acquire the name TV Show but if it is a "local show" then inevitably it is a Serial. The nomenclature could also rise due to the episode portraying and the plots, which are extremely local themed and centred around daily problems such local households face.

They both discuss the struggles of these two "Ganesha Mothers" who face persecution due to their occupations and have challenges with their interests in the head of the family they work for.

X Y and Z Y were most popular during their tenure at streaming company Voot. Voot was an Indian subscription based Freemium company that started in 2016 and acquired licenses of X Y and Z Y and then was acquired by Viacom18.
